Eskdale League - June 28

Away vs. Mulgrave
Lost by 287 runs

Castleton made their way to Mulgrave's new ground hopeful but not expectant of a competitive performance. Superb facilities and a rock hard pitch greeted them which meant batting would be a treat.

Mulgrave won the toss and elected to bat, signalling the start of a long day for Castleton, depleted to ten men. No bowler came out with much credit, and Mulgrave posted 383-6 (not a mis-print). Rob Thompson came into the attack late-on and took 3-35.

Castleton's innings was a non-event, yet Tom Hepburn and James O'Donnell put on 50 for the first wicket. Castleton then collapsed to 96ao, with James making 46 of them.

Mulgrave 383-6 40 overs Castleton 96ao

MoM - James O'Donnell - provided some resistance with the bat.

Hmm is that why you refused to play Ugthorpe cc tonight despite the pitch been playable 10 minutes after your convoy left the ground despite the match never been called off by the home team?
6 45pm in ugthorpe the drizzle stopped and deemed playable by the home team, hence castleton forfeiting the match and the easiest win of the season!

Is this the same Castleton who played bottom of league Egton in virtually unplayable conditions on18th August but refused to play top of league Ugthorpe despite light drizzle which stopped at7pm?I hope you are suitably embarassed by your captains actions but a nice easy win for Ugthorpe,Mulgrave played btw at home as well not very far from us as i look on the map!

is this the same Castleton side who on 18thAugust as it says decided to play v Egton despite ground being virtually unplayable but both captains decided to play?i wonder if Ugthorpe being unbeaten and top of the league had anything to do with it?Mulgrave played Kildale btw not very far from Ugthorpe i dont think, hope you are suitably embarassed by your actions, nice easy win for us though!
