Evening League - May 21

Home vs. Hinderwell
Won by 30 runs

Hinderwell were the visitors to Castleton, as the Evening League moved into its 4th week with Castleton still seeking their first victory. Captain Dave Heldt won the toss and elected to bat first, hoping to post a big score.
After opener Tom Hepburn got a beauty from Tom Garbutt, Jonny ‘Wildman’ Williams joined James O’Donnell in the middle for what was to be a thrilling partnership. Jonny did most of the scoring in the first 7 overs, as James O’Donnell remained rooted on 1. Yet they then both exploded with James hitting three 6s in a row, and Jonny reached his first ever 50 in the 14th over with James following soon after. They both then departed for 53 and 55 respectively, and some more lusty blows from the middle order gave Castleton a huge total of 151-4 off 20 overs.
Hinderwell knew they had to get on with it, and they made good progress, just keeping in touch with the rate. A superb run out from Tom Hepburn stalled the start of the innings, but they kept going, until with 7 overs remaining they recuired 67, not impossible by any means. Then Andrew Watson and Tom Hepburn combined to secure victory with 4 and 2 wickets apiece in the closing overs to bowl Hinderwell out for 121.

Castleton 151-4 20 overs Hinderwell 121ao 19 overs

MoM – Jonny ‘Wildman’ Williams and James O’Donnell – both scored superb 50s.
